I have the following situation:

I need to look up VINs to check the status of a report.

However, there are thousands of them, so I want to know if it is possible to perform an HTTP request on the website instead of using the user interface.

I need to extract the status of each vehicle from the FGJ tab.

If the website owner provides the API and access, yes, you can use HTTP request but if they don’t, Ui Automation is the only way.

Try these below steps once:

  1. Open the website in a browser.
  2. Press F12 (Developer Tools) → Network.
  3. Search using a sample VIN.
  4. Check whether a POST/GET API request is sent and identify:
    • Endpoint URL
    • Request method
    • Headers/Cookies
    • Request payload (VIN value)
  5. In UiPath, use HTTP Request activity with the same details.
  6. Parse the response (JSON/HTML) and extract the FGJ status (e.g., Con Reporte de Robo, Robado, Sin Reporte, etc.).
  7. Loop through all VINs from Excel/DataTable and save the results.

If No API Exists

If the site only returns HTML pages and does not expose an API:

  • Use HTTP Request to submit the search form directly.
  • Parse the returned HTML using Html Agility Pack, Get OCR Text, or Data Scraping techniques.
  • Extract the value from the FGJ section without opening each page manually.

Here are your options to get data from thousands of VINs:

  • Get official bulk access by contacting them directly. If you need the data for some real purpose, then they may provide read data access. In such a case, you can proceed with HTTP Request.
  • UI Automation to directly fill in the first form and then extract the data for 1 vehicle at a time.

I don’t think they provide a public API to get this data, so you may need to use UI automation.

Since you have thousands of VINs, you can use multiple bots to process them. This will help reduce the overall processing time.
