How to solve for Input Arguments larger than 10k characters are not being supported at design time

When i enter an input argument for a job that has more than 10k (10.000) characters, it fails with the error: Operation returned invalid status code '400'. The field InputArguments must be a string or array type with a maximum length of '10000'.

Symptoms:

At design time, you can't pass a string input larger than 10.000 (10k) characters into an argument, because it will fail with: The field InputArguments must be a string or array type with a maximum length of 10.000. Error code: 0

Resolution

Pass the argument through a file.

  1. Write the argument into a file using the Write Text File activity.
  2. Load it up with a Read Text File activity and use it further in the process.
