How to make the Orchestrator MSI recognize that Insights was manually enabled ?

Background: There can be a few scenarios where the Insights feature on Orchestrator has been manually enabled but the MSI does not recognize this. For example if Insights was accidently disabled and if re-enabled manually, the installer would not recognize this.

Steps:

  1. Backup the registry keys in case anything goes wrong
    1. See Microsofts documentation on Back up the registry manually
  2. Open regedit, and go to the location: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Features\
  3. Within this location (so make sure 'Features' is selected) search for 'InsightsFeature'
  4. It should return a key called like the one in the below screenshot (The key is unique by version):

  1. Right click the InsightsFeature, select modify and remove the long dash. The end result should look like below:

  1. Now, to add remove programs, observe that the Insights feature is enabled.

  1. If this issue does not resolve the problem, raise a ticket and make sure to include the steps that were taken, a screenshot of the changes and the version of Orchestrator.
