How to handle terminal vt220 which do not support fields

Hi ,

I am automating a terminal screen where text do not change when I Transmit. Cursor moves from one line to another on the screen but the text on the screen remains same. Its a VT220 terminal and since VT family of terminals does not support fields, i am not able to identify cursor positions or fields.

Please suggest me how can we work on such screens.
