Get Outlook Desktop Mail Messages: The specified folder does not exist (2025)

Hi guys. This is a recurring problem I find no solution to. Yes, I have checked similar thread but can’t figure it out.

It keeps on showing no folder exists.
I have >put the correct folder

correct account
have outlook open. Can anyone suggest what to do? Thank you

Hi @Arun_Saha ,

Can you try to pass the account detail (Mail Id) and try again.

Regards,
Arivu

Hi @Arun_Saha ,

you should try using the full folder path, including the mailbox name.

For example: Instead of “Inbox”
use: “your email\Inbox”
In the account field, fill your email id

In addition, you can refer to the given link below:

Hope it helps, Thank you.

Hi @Arun_Saha

Could you please try using full path
Example
\Mailbox - Your Name\Inbox
Or \your.email@company.com\
Or instead of classic you are try to use modern activity

Hope it help
Thanks

Hi @Arun_Saha

Could you please update the message id and check as well can make update account

Hope it works for you!

@Arun_Saha

Could you please confirm the outlook version you have and is it class or the new experience?

If it’s new experience of Outlook this could be the root cause. Try using O365 integration services for it.

Hi @Arun_Saha

This usually happens because the folder path is not exactly what Outlook expects.

  1. Use the full path. For subfolders use Inbox\SubFolderName, not just the subfolder name.
  2. Make sure the folder name matches Outlook exactly, including localized names if Outlook is not in English.
  3. If you have multiple accounts, set the Account field explicitly to the email address.
  4. For shared mailboxes, use MailboxName\Inbox or MailboxName\Inbox\SubFolder.
  5. Make sure you are using Classic Outlook, not the new Outlook.
  6. Test with MailFolder = Inbox only. If that works, the issue is the folder path.

This is almost always a folder path or Outlook version issue.

Hi @Arun_Saha

This error usually happens because UiPath needs the exact Outlook folder path, not just "Inbox".

Fix:

  • Right-click Inbox in Outlook → Properties
  • Copy the Folder Path
  • Paste it exactly in Mail folder (example: \\Mailbox - Your Name\\Inbox)
  • Also fill the Account field with your email ID

Gokul

Hello @Arun_Saha

Can you perhaps share a screenshot of your Ourlook folder hierarchy.
As others have suggested it should relate to the exact naming of your folders.

If still no luck, then perhaps try and run Outlook with this command to reset folder names:

outlook.exe /resetfoldernames

hi, thanks for responding, does this help? what can i do

Hi Monali, but its just Inbox, its not even working for that let alone subfolders… and i have done 2,3,4 as mentioned in the post…and yeah it seems like there is no issue in the classic, it is issue in the modern, but was working fine before, but not anymore…

I really dont get what its saying, its complicated

Have done all those, still the same

Hey Ashok. yeah it works fine on classic, i tried downloading the old version, its not working on the new/modern version, do you know what can be done?

have tried those, thanks for trying

@Arun_Saha

It won’t work with new/modern outlook. Use office 365 integration services..
