To Replicate the Issue:

  2. Navigate to System Environment Variables(Start -> Search Environment Variables -> Edit the System Environment Variables ) and check the below variables,

    • System variable named UIPATH_LANGUAGE shall be available by default (Refer to the screenshot below).
    • User Variable named UIPATH_LANGUAGE shall have the value Language code as per Customer's requirement (eg- For Chinese Language use zh-CN).

Resolution

The issue occurs when UIPATH_LANGUAGE variable in User Variable/System Variable is not updated/ created upon changing the language in Studio. To troubleshoot,

  1. Navigate to System Environment Variables(Start -> Search Environment Variables -> Edit the System Environment Variables ) and Check/Create a User variable named UIPATH_LANGUAGE and check/set the value of the respective Language set in Studio (eg: For Chinese Language use zh-CN, for English use en) .
  2. Also, cross-verify if System variable named UIPATH_LANGUAGE (by default) is available. Otherwise, create one.
  3. Restart the Studio / Robot services.

Read more on the Configuring Studio Settings.

The above procedure can also be used to change the language of Studio and Assistant externally, using the UIPATH_LANGUAGE environment variable, in case customers want to modify the settings for multiple installations.

Changing the UIPATH_LANGUAGE environment variable will change the language inside Studio automatically.

The UIPATH_LANGUAGE variable uses language codes based on ISO 639-1 (two-letter language codes) and sometimes includes a region modifier based on ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 (two-letter country codes).

However, to allow the language set in the environment variable to reflect inside Assistant, we need to delete the agent-settings.json file present at %appdata%\UiPath, because Assistant reads the language setting from the environment variable the first time after installation, and then stores the same inside agent-settings.json file.

To change the Assistant language using the variable:

  • Close Assistant
  • Delete agent-settings.json from %appdata%\UiPath
  • Modify Environment variable
  • Start Assistant
