Jobs out there all seem to focus on the ability to code in .net or c# to be used with expensive proprietary software.

You can achieve most of that with some free python libraries. Why does the industry insist on paying more? Are they truly getting more?

Hey, check out Selenium, its working well, but require programmation skills rather than most of proprietary softwares.
Industries and companies prefer stable software that are well known as RPA tool, by coding your own robots from scratch you are more prone to create issues.
