Control Bot Remotely

Hi,
I would like to deploy a bot in a particular laptop/PC, can I control that bot remotely from my system?
I would like to remotely make the bot active or deactivate it upon my need.
Can I also make changes to the bot’s workflow remotely from my system?

Hello @ADITYA_MUKHERJEE,
let me try to answer you questions one by one:

  • Q: I would like to deploy a bot in a particular laptop/PC, can I control that bot remotely from my system?
A: Yes you can, once the robot has been properly connected to your Orchestrator.
You can execute jobs, and create schedule via Orchestrator for that robot.

  • Q: I would like to remotely make the bot active or deactivate it upon my need.
A: Yes, you can also do this via Orchestrator. You can either give or deprive that robot of its license via Orchestrator, or just remove it completely.

    • Note: Of course, the robot software installed in the laptop/PC would still be there, but it won’t have any of your licenses.
  • Q: Can I also make changes to the bot’s workflow remotely from my system?
A: By workflow, you mean the published workflows from Studio correct?
Now, you can only make changes to the workflow itself via Studio and these changes would only be accessible at first to the machine where the studio is installed. In order to give the remote robot access to these changes:

    • You must republish the new workflow to the Orchestrator.
    • Update the process version of the workflow in the Orchestrator
    • And assign to the remote robot this new version, before being able to download it.

Hopefully I was able to answer your questions, if you need further clarifications feel free to reply and we’ll try to help you out.

Happy automating, stay safe & healthy. :vulcan_salute:
