Confusion around UiPath Apps

Hi everyone,

Hoping someone can help clarify on a confusion I have around UiPath Apps.

I saw the announcement from earlier this month (Sep 2020) about UiPath Apps and App Studio to help build low-code apps powered by bot automation at the backend. Pretty neat! Referring to this link - Introducing UiPath Apps: A Robot-Powered Low-Code Platform

But a friend pointed out that UiPath apps is nothing but action center, which is the centralized inbox to manage robot-human handoffs. My initial reaction was that they’re two different things, but then I found this article (from Oct 2019) that seems to be referring to UiPath apps as well. That said, it begins with an editor’s note that UiPath Apps is now UiPath action center. Referring to this - UiPath Apps - Scale RPA Initiatives | UiPath

So am I correct to conclude that what was UiPath apps before is now renamed as UIPath action center, and the UiPath Apps they launched this month is a completely new thing? I guess you can see where my confusion lies

Thanks for clarifying!

Hi @himavad!

You’re not the only one who has gotten confused here, but your conclusion is correct:

  1. Action Center was initially launched+licensed as “Apps” in 2019, and was renamed in 2020.
  2. UiPath Apps (and App Studio) are new to the platform and will be available in Preview before the end of the month.

Keep an eye on the Apps section of the forum for an announcement in the coming days

Hope this helps,
Evan
