Change Firefox used installation for UiPath StudioX

Hello everybody. I have a problem with my browser installation/configuration.
I’m not admin, so I can only install a user instance of Firefox. My machine, all users, Firefox installation is 111 version, too old, so UiPath addon is not working anymore. My UiPath only recognize this version. I want to configure UiPath to recognize and use the user installation so I could update Firefox by myself.
¿Where can I change the browser exe path? ¿any configuration file?
Thank you very much.

In UiPath the browser extension typically attaches to the default installation path of the browser. However, since you are using a user-instance of Firefox instead of the system-wide installation, you need to manually configure UiPath to recognize the correct executable path.

Or try alternative Workaround:

If UiPath only detects the outdated system-wide Firefox, you can:

  1. Set your user-installed Firefox as the default browser and restart UiPath.
  2. Use Open Browser activity with a custom path to launch Firefox manually.
    3.Try using Chrome or Edge (if allowed) since they have better UiPath support.

Hi @marrajon

To configure UiPath to recognize your user-installed Firefox, navigate to C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\UiPath\, find and open the Browsers.json file. Edit the "ExecutablePath" to point to your user-installed Firefox location, for example, "C:\\Users\\<YourUsername>\\AppData\\Local\\Mozilla Firefox\\firefox.exe". Save the file and restart both UiPath Studio and Assistant. This will enable UiPath to use your user-installed Firefox.

@marrajon

you no need to configure any path and all
just make after updating extinction is added or not and also from UiPath studio also you need to install the Firefox to access it giving screenshot please find it

Happy Automation!!

Thanks Bhagyasri , but when I do this way, it does not accept Firefox User Window, selection takes yellow color, not green.

Thanks prashant1603765, but I cannot find browsers.json file.

Thanks yedukondaluaregala, but I cannot uninstall machine Firefox installation.

I cannot get user firefox as default (Windows 11 Pro)

Hi @marrajon

Try pls. Mark as a solution :white_check_mark: if you found it helpful.
Thanks

Hi prashant1603765, thanks, but as I don´t have permissions, it shows an error

@marrajon
Yes might be admin restriction, connect with local admin support team.

I’ve done it, but time to resolution is about 3 months, if you are lucky (Regional Spanish goverment organization)

Ok great @marrajon
Conclusion is only access issue .

Mark as a solution & Please close the thread.

Sorry Prashant, but I think problem is not solved, because I`m not an administrator, this is the problem. If I had admin capabilities, I could install updated firefox, and I wouldn’t need this workaround.

Anyway, thank you very much for your contributions.

@marrajon Most welcome, No problem.
Happy Automation with UiPath

Finally I got Firefox updated. But I had another problem, last version working with UiPath was 134.0. So, I think a Firefox 134.0 local installation would also had worked.
