When the Robot ID password expires (or is about to expire), is there a way to receive a notification/alert from Orchestrator?
Issue description:
When the Robot ID password expires (or is about to expire), is there a way to receive a notification/alert from Orchestrator?
Resolution:
Please note that as per the current design, there is no built-in feature in UiPath's Orchestrator to notify users about impending Robot password expiration.
You can consider the following workarounds:
- Disable Password Expiration: You can sidestep this limitation by disabling password expiration altogether. This means the password will never expire. This alternative lies in adjusting your IT configuration to prevent the expiration of robot account passwords. This is contingent on compliance with your organization's security protocols.
- Build a Custom Workflow: If you would prefer to be notified of an impending password expiration, you can custom-build a workflow to verify the password expiration date. This process requires the use of 'Invoke Code ' activities, utilizing System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement to track when the password was last updated and then calculate its expiration date based on your company's specific password policies.
Running this workflow periodically enables you to receive timely notifications prior to the password expiration deadline, granting you sufficient time to manually update the password.
Please ensure to properly secure your credentials and handle exceptions within your workflow.
- Use of a Vault to Store Credentials: CyberArk can be employed as an additional vault for storing credentials. UiPath integrates seamlessly with CyberArk, retrieving Robot credentials to permit login. With CyberArk resetting the password, issues with expiring passwords for Robot accounts are eliminated. Kindly refer to the Cyberark Integration for more information. (Helpful reference article)
