Can Bot install a software in a desktop using uipath?

Hi ,

Can we install any software using UiPath Bot.
i need to install the any software into my machine using UiPath Bot, when i start the bot that particular software will be installed.

Thanks in advance

Hi @keerthi_arumugam ,

I doubt this can be done.
Installation requires Admin approval and I don’t think the admin window that asks for permission is something the robot has access to.

Anything wrong with manually installing software? Ideally we shouldn’t automate it, but hey, it doesn’t hurt to get creative every once in a while(I guess).

Kind Regards,

if we got a admin credential seems ,it is possible right?

@keerthi_arumugam,

Yes, it’s possible but watch out for Return On Investment (ROI). The time you require to develop this logic and licensing cost to run this bot will be your major investment here and this should be less than the time and money you are going to save from this.

Usually software installs are managed by the Sys admin.

This seems like a really bad idea, what is you use case, can you share more details?

yes, our usecase to give Bot to sysadmin team to install any software by one click.

I need to know this usecase is possible with cost efficient ?

@keerthi_arumugam,

In my opinion, it is not cost effective and manageable as well because you will have to assign licenses in real-time whenever required.

Seems like an awful idea, the number of machines you manage robots on should be small, why would you need to install software so often?

There are tools for this, why aren’t they fit for purpose?

can you please suggest that tool?

Also how RPA bot installation can be upgraded with AI capabilities and what sort of problems it can solve for customers?suggest some points on this…

You sys admins should have various tools for this. I do not manage servers so its not my field but this has been around for decades.

If they are asking for help from RPA to install software then they dont sound qualified for system admin, especially since the number of machines you can run the RPA is a handful.

This is extremely vague. Its like saying ‘Can you tell me how using a Word Processor can help my business?’ AI is a tool for alot of different scenarios.
