Best Way to Determine Argument Data Types in Studio Web Invoke Workflow

Hey folks,

I was trying out the Invoke Workflow feature in Studio Web, and I had a question.

In Studio Desktop, when we use arguments, we typically create variables with specific data types and pass them to the corresponding arguments in the invoked workflow. Even if a variable is generated at the activity level, we can always check its data type in the Variables panel and create a matching argument in the invoked workflow.

However, in Studio Web, most variables are generated automatically at the activity level, and there isn’t a centralized Variables panel like in Studio Desktop. When invoking another workflow, we need to manually create arguments with the correct data types. With so many advanced data types available, it can be difficult to determine the exact type of an activity’s output and define the matching argument.

Is there an easy way or a recommended approach to identify the data type of automatically generated variables in Studio Web? Any tips, best practices, or “cheat codes” for handling this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

If you hover over the auto created variable, you will see the datatype in the tooltip.

If you don’t see like for this variable here -

You can try creating a variable for the property.

You will see the datatype here
