Best place to learn Strings,Variables, and the like

Hello,
I am new to this whole RPA stuff. I am trying to get a loadscrape to go to an excel document, but than have it edit it and send it to a new excel document, but it seems that I need to know how to use strings and variables which I am not familiar with and want to learn how to effectively use them to solve my use case.
