Autopilot for Maestro Visio File Upload Fails During File-to-BPMN Conversion

Why does attaching a Visio file to Autopilot for Maestro fail during file-to-BPMN conversion?

Issue Description

Autopilot for Maestro supports file-to-BPMN conversion for supported Visio file types. In some cases, attaching a Visio file still fails with an internal error instead of generating the BPMN model.

As documented in Autopilot for Maestro, supported Visio file types include .vsdx, .vsdm, and .vdx, and the maximum allowed file size is 10 MB.

Resolution

  1. Confirm the Visio file is supported and within the documented size limit
    • Verify that the uploaded file uses a supported Visio extension such as .vsdx, .vsdm, or .vdx.
    • Keep the file at or below 10 MB. Autopilot for Maestro currently supports a maximum file size of 10 MB for file-to-BPMN conversion, as documented here.
    • If the file is larger than 10 MB, reduce the file size before retrying.
  2. Current workaround: export the Visio file to PDF before uploading
    • Open the source Visio diagram and export or save it as a PDF.
    • Attach the exported PDF to the Autopilot prompt instead of the original Visio file.
    • If the PDF upload succeeds, continue using the generated BPMN model and refine it on the canvas as needed.
  3. If the issue continues
    • Retry with a simplified or reduced version of the source diagram to rule out file-specific complexity.
    • If the issue still reproduces, collect the correlation ID shown in the UI and open or update a support case with the failing sample.

Additional Information

  • This issue is specific to Visio file-to-BPMN conversion behavior and does not mean that Visio is unsupported in Autopilot for Maestro.
  • The preferred workaround at this time is to export the Visio file to PDF before upload.
