Introducing the new Autopilot for Developers – Chat Experience in API Workflows and Studio (Desktop)
Hey everyone!
We’re excited to roll out a major upgrade to Autopilot for Developers: a conversational chat experience that helps you generate, edit, and analyze automations faster—now available in Studio Web API Workflows and Studio Desktop RPA & Coded Workflows.
What’s new?
API Workflow chat-first building (Studio Web)
Describe what you want and Autopilot generates/edits API Workflows end-to-end from the chat panel—keeping context and enabling iterative refinements. This capability lives in Studio Web and is tailored for API-first automations
-
Studio (Desktop) boost: Bring the same “chat-to-workflow” power into Studio Desktop to draft RPA sequences, activities, and expressions.
-
Studio (Desktop) coded workflows: Build C# coded workflows through a chat-native experience**—describe what you want, and Autopilot generates the code, explains it, and lets you** modify/refine it iteratively right in Studio Desktop.
How does this differ from the previous A4D?
| Before (A4D classic) | Now (A4D Chat) |
|---|---|
| Heavily prompt-to-generate (“text to workflow”), then manual tweaking | Multi-turn chat that remembers context, explains suggestions, and lets you refine steps conversationally |
| Best for one-shot scaffolding | Best for ongoing design/debug: ask “why,” rephrase, or modify existing steps in the same thread. |
| RPA-centric: primarily generated workflows in Studio for RPA. | Multi-paradigm: works across RPA, API Workflows, and Coded Workflows/Automations from the same chat experience. |
Key benefits for developers
- Ship faster: Go from intent → runnable API workflows in minutes; let chat do the scaffolding and repetitive edits.
- Fewer context switches: Ask for changes, tests, or explanations inside the chat, right next to your flow.
- Cleaner expressions: Generate expressions via natural language and reuse objects/steps by reference.
- Consistent outcomes: Autopilot understands workflow context, so recommendations stay aligned as requirements evolve.
We can’t wait to hear what you build with our new Autopilot. Drop feedback, examples, and questions below—especially where the chat experience helps you go from idea to working automation faster! ![]()
