Hello,
I am currently a student who is using UiPath Studio for an accounting class project. Ive used UiPath Studio in the past. Recently however, Ive come across an issue where UiPath Studio has locked me out of everything, and it is giving me this error: “Studio Desktop is not available with your current license. Please consider upgrading your license”. Im unsure why im receiving this error as UiPath Studio has been working fine for me before.
Hi @ethan.lee,
Welcome to the community.
This typically indicates a licensing issue rather than a Studio issue.
Please check that you’re signed in with the correct account. Open UiPath Assistant and sign in again with your account.
It’s also possible that your tenant has been disabled, which would prevent Studio from obtaining a valid license.
Thanks
Thank you for the reply. I believe it is the correct account, as UiPath Assistant shows that its the same account. How would I check if my tenant is disabled?
Hi @ethan.lee,
You need to log in to Orchestrator, then navigate to Admin and select the DefaultTenant.
If the issue is not resolved, please share a screenshot.
Thanks
Hello, I have navigated to the tenant settings and I can confirm that my Tenant has not been disabled. What other fixes might be possible?
Hi @ethan.lee,
Can you please confirm your license type? Is it a free plan? Go to Admin → Organization → License.
If all these are fine, then it might be due to recent changes from UiPath where your developer license is no longer allocated to your user.
Please go to Orchestrator and check the License section.
Alternatively, open UiPath Assistant, disconnect, then sign in again. Once connected, open Studio.
Thanks
It’s fine.
Now, Open UiPath Assistant, disconnect, then sign in again. Once connected, open Studio and check.
Thanks
Automation Express or Express User license doesn’t allow opening or running automations in Studio or Assistant.
You need to add for your user the Automation Developer license.
This issue is happening because you are using an Automation Express (free) license, which does not include access to UiPath Studio Desktop or running automations. That’s why everything appears locked even after reconnecting. To fix this, you need to upgrade your license or have an admin assign you an “Automation Developer” license, which provides full access to Studio and allows you to create and run automations.
Hi @ethan.lee,
Thanks for sharing the screenshot. You’re currently on the Free Plan and only have an Express User license, which does not include UiPath Studio. Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade it from here if you’ve already used the available upgrade path in the past.
As a workaround, you can delete your current organization and create a new one. I experienced the same issue with a Community account, and creating a new organization provided the licenses required for Studio.
To delete the organization:
Organization Name → Settings → Advanced Tab→ Delete
Before deleting, make sure to back up any important data.
This will resolve your issue.
Thanks
The issue is you are on the Free Plan, which doesnt include the type of licence you need.
Perhaps you had a previous licence plan that expired?
You need to get onto a plan that has the licence you need.
UiPath has a programme for students, which might cover what you need.
Otherwise there is the community version, but you’ll need to confirm your work falls withing the TOS to see if you can legally do that.
You cannot convert a free plan to community though. That has to be done by deleting your account and starting fresh.
There are also paid monthly plans that should give you the licence you need.
