My Attach Browser is no longer working:
Attach Browser | Chrome | ClaimCenter: Could not communicate with the UiPath extension for browser ‘msedge.exe’. Please make sure the extension is installed and enabled.

It was working fine, until I ran a component I was developing for clearing the Cache files in Edge & Chrome. Since then I cannot communicate with either Browser.

I have had IT:

  • uninstall the Edge & Chrome Extensions using UiPath Studio
  • uninstalled and then re-installed UiPath Studio
  • various reboots

However, nothing works. I have also noticed now that the extension has an error:

This might be caused by your company security policies which restricting the extension to fail.

Check with your support team if there is any such policy in force.

Hi & Thanks for your response Ashok… could this be even though it worked before ? and it continues to work for my colleagues … this issue seems related to the Edge & Chrome cache folders that I tried to clear.

  • Try to uninstall the UiPath browser extension
  • Close the browser
  • Try to remove/delete the user profile used in the browser (usually it is a Profile x folder in the %localappdata%\Google\Chrome\User Data location)
  • Recreate the user profile in browser
  • Re-install the browser extension
  • Close the browser
  • Open the browser and check if the issue still there

With the help of our IT Team, we ended up doing a bit more than you suggested but suspect what you suggested would have worked.

FYI, these were the steps we took…

  • rebooted machine (to ensure UiPath not running - except for any services by default)
  • removed the Edge and Chrome folders from C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local
  • opened Chrome & Edge - to re-create the folders
  • uninstalled UiPath Studio
  • rebooted machine
  • re-intalled UiPath Studio
  • re-linked to Orchy
