Assign Robots as a Group to Folders

Great morning everyone,

May I ask you for some specific help.

Currently, due to the quantity of processes we’re in charge, I have 5 Robot Accounts in my organization. Assigning these 5 robots to every folder might not be the best way to do it.

I thought of making a group and, instead of assign all 5 accounts, do it with only the group i’ve created. Made it with the following roles: “Allow to be Automation User” in Tenant Level and assign it with “Automation User” in Folder Level.

When trying to start any process and defining the executor robot, none of them were present in the dropdown section.

Any ideas of why this is happening? Can groups include Robot accounts and be assigned as “Unattended”?

Hii @Athos,

Yes, you can add Robot Accounts to a group and manage folder access through the group. However, assigning the Automation User role to the group does not automatically make the Robot Accounts available as executors.

Please also verify that:

  • The Robot Accounts are members of the group.
  • The group has the required folder permissions.
  • Each Robot Account has the appropriate Unattended Runtime / robot configuration.
  • The Robot Accounts are assigned to the required folder either directly or through the group.

If the Robot Accounts are not appearing in the executor dropdown, I would first check the folder membership and runtime availability for those accounts.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Athos ,
Groups can be used to simplify permissions/access, and robot accounts in a group inherit the roles assigned to that group. However, UiPath states that unattended robot auto-provisioning is not supported for groups.

For unattended execution, configure the Robot Accounts individually for unattended use, including the required machine/runtime configuration. You can still use the group for common tenant/folder permissions, but do not rely on the group to provision the unattended executors.
That is why simply assigning the group with Automation User permissions does not provision the 5 Robot Accounts as unattended executors.

Thanks

Ok! So I can group the users in a common group but when assigning it to a folder, might be individually.

Thanks a lot!
