Can you show us a screenshot of the code you are using in the assign activity so that it would be easier to see what you have done and get an idea why you are getting this error…

this is from advanced lev 3 assignment calculate hash

is that TransactionData variable is assigned with any value from any of the ARGUMENTS of direction OUT from INVOKE WORKFLOW FILE activity
kindly check that once
to validate whether that datatable variable has any value in it use a WRITE LINE activity before this ASSIGN and mention like this
TransactionData.Rows.Count.ToString so that we will get to know whether it has records in it or not
and also initiate that variable with a default value as New System.Data.Datatable
