Hi, I want to ask what are benefits/adavanteges over Excel Application Scope when using directly Excel plugin? I know some of them but maybe there are more.

You can get more control over excel if you go to studio you can see many useful activities with excel application scope apart from that excel extension activities are also available only problem is that you must have Microsoft excel application installed.
from my experience one more thing what i observed is that if you try to read a .xls file which is corrupted without using excel application scope. read range workbook activities will fail.
