Public Preview Announcement: Automation Suite

Today, we’re introducing the public preview of UiPath Automation Suite: a new way to self-host the complete cloud-native UiPath Platform, or, if you are a UiPath partner, to deliver it to your customers as a service. Internally we’ve previously called this “Service Fabric”.

We’ve put a huge amount of effort into building Automation Suite to offer low TCO, deployment flexibility (including air-gapped scenarios), and an easy way to manage the entire UiPath platform, users and associated infrastructure. We hope you’re as excited as we are about the public preview milestone and if you are interested in the next generation of our self-host offers, will give it a try (in a test environment!). You can get access or just get more information and access to the documentation by joining the UiPath Insider Program at uipath.com/insider

Automation Suite also brings a revolutionary new approach to delivery: a single, upgradable package that includes not only all the UiPath server products, containerized – but also the Kubernetes platform and platform management tools entirely built in, configured and optimized for you. We’ve done all this optimization and configuration so you don’t have to, for both our own products and the infrastructure, and upon release we will also support it end-to-end. It also includes user features that have not previously been available on-prem, like the UiPath Portal experience to easily access everything across the platform in one place.

Here are some of the key features planned for GA. Most of these are in the public preview that you can get today, with a few exceptions that we’re still working on polishing:

An Enterprise-Ready Suite, with:

  • All UiPath Platform server products, containerized

  • Unified user, tenant and license management across all products and services

  • Portal-based access to services and product availability parity with Automation Cloud

  • Integration with other enterprise systems: Azure AD, AD and CyberArk CCP

  • RPA governance and security built in

  • Ability to create multiple organizations on the same infrastructure (enables hosting scenarios)

  • Full optimization already done, and fully supported by UiPath

Installation is flexible, and update is easy

  • Install all or any part of the UiPath Automation platform

  • Install on Linux VMs or bare metal servers on-premises, or in the cloud

  • Single, unified CLI-based install: infrastructure, software dependences, and UiPath products

  • Streamlined and unified update of all products and infrastructure

Integrated Infrastructure and Cluster Management reduce complexity and TCO

  • Platform-level host administration console with modern UX and support for multiple users

  • Integrated monitoring and troubleshooting of the K8s infrastructure from within the Suite

  • Backup/restore are built in

  • High Availability and Scale Management are built in

Of course, if you’re not ready for Automation Suite in preview, or want to remain on our individual product installers going forward, we will continue to make those available as an option. In 2021.10 we will be releasing our traditional updates (more on that at Forward IV!), but we expect to release Automation Suite in that timeframe as well.

We are very excited to reach this milestone, and hope you will look closer at Automation Suite public preview. The links and some questions are available below, and we welcome your feedback on the product and the documentation in this preview phase. Thank you for being a UiPath customer!

This is great news @Geoff, it would be very beneficial for enterprise customers. Looking forward to signup and learn more from insider portal.

Hi @Geoff,

Kudos to the team. A lot of effort must have gone into getting this to public-preview. Let’s be honest, setting up an on-premises Orchestrator is no cake walk and requires a lot of preparation and support from server departments.

As I understand, Automation Suite will definitely avoid a lot of installation road blocks and enable UiPath partners to manager their RPA-as-service plans.

I also think UiPath must gear up before users start demanding for consumption based licensing and Automation Suite will probably enable UiPath to think of a new licensing regime. I do hope this happens because the current UiPath licensing scheme is broken. Too many licenses scare and confuse customers.
